Why Hire A Real Estate Photographer?
I’ve seen many realtors search for these questions on the internet. Why hire a real estate photographer? Is it really worth it? Isn’t my phone good enough to get the pictures I need to sell a home?
The answer is pretty simple. Yes, your phone does take amazing pictures, especially if you have an iPhone (iPhone fanboy here). And yes, you technically can shoot amazing videos with just your phone, but having a camera on your hands is half the battle. Knowing how to use a camera to make an ATTENTION GRABBING photo or video is easier said than done. This is where you need to check yourself as a realtor and ask, do I really know what I’m doing with a camera? If you’ve asked yourself that question, maybe it’s time to look into hiring a real estate photographer.
Do it for the BRAND not for your wallet.
Your brand is very important when trying to land a certain type of listing. A realtor with professional images in their social media and website will land different listings than a realtor with pixelated pictures and and ugly graphics. Sometimes I catch realtors taking extra time and effort buying nice outfits and taking great pictures to look professional on their profile page but post subpar, uninspiring photographs of the listings they represent. What these realtors fail to understand is that every listing is an opportunity to show off who they are and not taking advantage of that is a big mistake, especially when the market is showing signs of slowing down. I strongly believe that if the market slows down, we’ll start seeing less and less realtors making it. Only those with a strong internet presence and professional portfolio will make it through those times.
It’s not as expensive as you might think.
Hiring a real estate photographer is not that expensive. Considering how you don’t even need to be in the present at the time of the shoot, you save time and gas money (that’s probably more expensive) during the time you have that listing. If you think about it, there are more positives to hiring a real estate photographer than there are negatives.
In ConclusionIt all depends how far you want to take your brand and your career as a realtor. If you do plan to grow your network and client base, then I would suggest you hire a real estate photographer to show professionalism. If you plan on making a quick buck during this crazy real estate market that just passed, then I recommend you keep using your camera phone - That’ll save you some cash.
